- What does OBD mean?
- OBD stands for “On-Board Diagnostics” – the standardised diagnostic system built into every modern vehicle. Through the OBD interface, technical data such as mileage, the fault memory and control unit information can be read directly.
- How does OBD verification work on CARINDEX?
- On selected listings the vehicle data is read directly from the on-board electronics instead of being entered manually. This data is then validated by our testing partner TÜV NORD. If the data that was read checks out, the listing receives the “OBD verified” badge.
- Does this protect me from odometer fraud?
- The direct electronic comparison makes it considerably harder to conceal a manipulated mileage. Discrepancies between the value read and the listing show up immediately. No technical inspection can offer a one-hundred-percent guarantee; verification is, however, an additional safeguard.
- Does verification cost the buyer anything?
- No. For buyers, OBD verification is free. You can recognise listings with read-out vehicle data by the “OBD verified” badge; not every listing carries it.
